Course Description:

This course discusses the reading process and the factors that influence its development, the role of assessment to inform and adapt literacy instruction, the evaluation and use of formal and informal assessment tools for individual learners and groups of students, and the interpretation and communication of assessment results. A 30-hour practicum is required.

For this week: Running Records and the Observation Survey

Hopefully, you've had time to read up on Marie Clay's observation survey and have been thinking of a small emergent reader to practice on. This week, we will be focusing on that as well as on your demonstrations of running records and a brief view of Sandra Wilde's Miscue Analysis system.

Don't Forget to Bring:
3 Running Records with completed MSV analysis and a recording of one to share
Have copies of one to share or something that we can all see on a document camera
Bring your copy of "Sand" so we can practice the observation survey pieces a bit
Don't forget your blog entry.
